James V and Mary Queen of Scots were both born at this magnificent royal house. It is a delight to visit, sure to take your breath away. It is located next to a small lake which affords nice views of the palace. Next door to the palace is St. Michael’s Parish Church, which dates back to at least 1242. The palace is a 10 minute walk down the High Street from the railway station.
