Antony Gormley, a winner of the much coveted Turner Prize, created ‘6 TIMES’ in 2010, a series of six cast-iron sculptures. The life-size sculptures present a wonderful opportunity to discover Edinburgh’s river, the Water of Leith, as it meanders through Edinburgh to where it empties into the Firth of Forth. It is possible to see all six figures in a day, or to discover them as you encounter different parts of the city.
Sculptures I, II and III are close to each other. You can follow the river path to see II and III, and take in Dean Village as you go.
I – Located at a pedestrian crossing along Belford Road between the Modern One and Modern Two Art Galleries. Modern One has free entry.
II – Located in the Water of Leith itself behind Modern One Art Gallery.
III – Located in Stockbridge below the bridge where Kerr Street meets Hamilton Place.
The next three statues are spaced out as you follow the river to the coast.
IV – Situated in the river at Powderhall in St. Mark’s Park.
V – Situated in the river in Bonnington by Anderson Place.
VI – Situated at the end of a disused pier at Ocean Terminal in Leith.
